DISA awards GIG-BE contracts

The Defense Information Systems Agency has chosen the equipment providers for its Global Information Grid-Bandwidth Expansion (GIG-BE) project, which will let warfighters and analysts access and post intelligence information more quickly than they do today.

Science Applications International Corp., the prime contractor, awarded indefinite-

delivery, indefinite-quantity subcontracts to Ciena Corp., Sprint, Qwest Communications International Inc.'s Government Services Division and Juniper Networks Inc.

The worldwide network uses 10 gigabits/ sec or faster connections. In the beginning, it will serve Defense Department users at 100 locations around the world.

* Defense Intelligence Agency officials chose seven companies to provide information technology hardware, software and services for the agency and other intelligence organizations.

DIA officials selected BAE Systems, Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., Computer Sciences Corp., Lockheed Martin Corp., Northrop Grumman Corp., SRA International Inc. and Titan Corp. to participate in the Defense Intelligence Information

Systems Integration and Engineering Support Services Contract 3.

* NASA awarded a contract worth up to $826.1 million over five years to SAIC for IT management services.

The Unified NASA Information Technology Services (UNITeS) contract, an IDIQ vehicle, will provide IT management service functions throughout the agency. Most of the work will support the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. UNITeS is a follow-on contract to the Program Information Systems Mission Services contract.

* The Interior Department selected BearingPoint Inc. to provide a financial management system in a contract worth an estimated $124.9 million.
