For the Office of Management and Budget's enterprise architecture assessment, agency officials must evaluate their architecture capabilities in four areas. They assign a score from 0 to 5 to each section then add the scores together for a total assessment value.
The four areas are:
Change. How well does the enterprise architecture — including its architectural approach and strategic direction — facilitate the management of change?
Integration. How well does it ensure the standardization of information and connectivity, especially in the areas of interoperability, data, business logic and interfaces?
Convergence. How well does it integrate the agency's information technology as defined by the technical reference model, looking at components, platforms, performance and security?
Business alignment. How well does it ensure alignment with the agency's business intent, specifically strategic goals and business targets?
