Webroot program sweeps out spyware and viruses

Webroot Software has released anti-spyware software with virus protection.

Webroot officials said Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus was developed specifically to protect desktop computers from the two most damaging types of Internet threats: spyware and viruses.

Spy Sweeper software provides an interface that is easy to install and use. Instructions are clear and concise. The software offers combined sweep and quarantine options and help from an in-house support team at no additional charge, officials said.

Spy Sweeper with AntiVirus uses Webroot’s next-generation automated spyware research system, Phileas, which is designed to seek out the most malicious types of spyware and malware.

Webroot users can choose from three scanning options. Quick Sweep offers a light scan of systems. Full Sweep is a thorough scan of all files on a computer’s attached drives. Custom Sweep allows users to adjust settings so files by folder or extension can be skipped and the computer’s processing power can be optimized based on choice.
