Federal 100 winner: Abe Berlas

Abe Berlas
Senior Consultant
Microsoft

Berlas was the architect who designed and integrated the federated log-in solution across the intelligence community so participating organizations could work as a single, integrated enterprise.

His application made it easier for analysts to work together and share information. With his expertise, Berlas tackled the technical issues and worked with each of the participating agencies to address their individual policy issues, said Peter Wene, the project’s manager at Northrop Grumman. And he accomplished that with a limited staff, he said.

“A project of this scope and magnitude with only three resources is unheard of and was only possible due to Abe’s leadership and influence,” Wene said. “His willingness to do whatever was necessary to move this effort forward not only allowed this solution to meet some very aggressive timelines, but allowed the cost of the solution to remain very low due to him filling the shoes of multiple resources."
