Federal 100: Linda Cureton

Linda Cureton
CIO
NASA

When it comes to Linda Cureton, CIO could just as well mean chief innovation officer.

She has been a powerful force behind NASA’s adoption of cloud computing, social media and collaboration platforms. She also helped lead the development and deployment of the agency’s open-government plan, which earned the top scores in an independent assessment by a watchdog group. And she set up NASA’s first IT Summit so government and industry representatives could share best practices and innovations in IT.

With Cureton, innovation begins at home. She is widely regarded as one of the savviest social media users in the upper ranks of government and a vocal advocate of blogs, Facebook, LinkedIn and other Web 2.0 tools.
