Federal 100: Katie Lewin

Katie Lewin
Director, Cloud Computing Program
General Services Administration

Katie Lewin has been a driving force behind all the major cloud computing programs that GSA manages. Last year, she oversaw multiple projects crucial to the adoption of cloud computing across government with limited staff and budget.

She played a critical role in GSA’s Infrastructure as a Service contract and the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program. IaaS allows agencies to buy Web hosting, virtual machines and storage as commodities and only pay for what they use. FedRAMP is designed to standardize the security assessments of cloud computing services and products.

In addition to developing methods and tools for agencies to use in adopting cloud computing, she also helped identify policy issues that could impede agencies’ progress.
