Federal 100: Michael Reardon

Michael Reardon
Supervisory Policy Adviser
Office of Disability Employment Policy
Labor Department

Michael Reardon is a firm believer that the most effective policies are created through collaboration. To that end, he has explored innovative ways to engage the public and agency partners in the policy-making process.

In 2010, he led the launch of ePolicyWorks, a collaborative effort among key stakeholders to address barriers to employment for people with disabilities. It features an online workspace where participants can contribute to the conversation about employment, disability and health care policy.

President Barack Obama has called for government transparency, citizen engagement and better collaboration, and ePolicyWorks meets all three goals. Reardon laid the groundwork for the effort without waiting for a mandate or special guidance, and built it into a trailblazing model of government efficiency and transparency.
