Defense bill would include cyber warfare designations
Legislation includes authority to conduct secret activities in cyberspace
Because terrorists are increasingly turning to the Internet for command-and-control exercises, rules for cyber warfare would be included in the 2012 Defense Authorization Bill, reports Federal News Radio.
In particular, the bill would give "the authority to conduct clandestine military activities in cyberspace in support of military operations" against targets located outside the U.S., the article states.
At least 12 "cyber" items in the bill would be funded with the largest amount -- more than $24 million -- requested for the Defense Information Systems Agency.
