Senator wants the Texas approach to cut federal waste

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) has asked the Obama administration to create a federal sunset committee similar to one in Texas that kills wasteful spending, writes Jory Heckman at Federal News Radio. President Barack Obama announced a plan June 13 to cut federal waste.

Obama's deficit commission has suggested adopting the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission's model for federal use, Heckman reports.

Since 1977, the Texas commission has killed dozens of outdated state programs and saved millions, Heckman writes.

So who will be on your new federal sunset committee? Congressmen? Senators? Lobbyists? CEOs? Bankers? Anyone but those scum-of-the-earth workers.
