Longest-serving federal CIO to retire

The longest-serving Cabinet-level CIO in the federal government is retiring.

Vance Hitch, who has been CIO at the Justice Department since 2002, told colleagues he is stepping down in July, Federal News Radio reports.

Hitch gave no indication of his plans after retirement, according to the article.

Van will be missed for sure. He is an exceptional leader and visionary. DOJ will have a very hard time replacing him.

Maybe Van heard about the Senate not renewing the current FBI Director...they walked in the door at the same time. Maybe it's time for him to go anyway...they both oversaw the FBI's case management debacle and have hung around since, right?
