Performance.gov too limited for critics
A number of open government experts are unimpressed with the Obama administration’s performance.gov and the peek it allows into federal agencies’ efforts in meeting important goals that officials laid out, according to the Federal Times.
Performance.gov lacks good information, particularly key accountability records, the article states. The Times points out that the site doesn’t give insights on how agencies moving on their 120 near-time, high-priority goals, which were described in the administration's fiscal 2011 budget proposal and how specific federal programs are going.
A senior Office of Management and Budget official said the administration is adjusting the site’s information after the updated Government Performance and Results Modernization Act changed various requirements, such as quarterly reviews. But OMB also doesn’t want to make too much information public if it isn’t accurate, the story states.
