Cyber Command veteran takes new post

 Maj. Gen. John Davis, formerly director of current operations at U.S. Cyber Command, has been appointed senior military advisor for cyber to the under secretary of defense for policy in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, the Defense Department announced.

Former Obama cybersecurity head moves to private sector

Sameer Bhalotra, who resigned in January as senior director for cybersecurity for the Barack Obama administration, is about to announce that he is taking a position as chief operating officer at a firm called Impermium, the New York Times reports.

Times reporter Nicole Perlroth described Impermium as "a cybersecurity start-up based in Redwood City, Calif., that wants to clean up the social Web using so-called big data techniques."

In his White House job, Bhalotra "coordinated several of President Obama’s cybersecurity initiatives, including the White House’s National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace," she wrote.

DOD officials join Senior Executive Service

The Defense Department today saw the addition of three Senior Executive Service members.

In an Aug. 16 announcement, DOD Secretary Leon Panetta highlighted the following appointments:

William Keely has been assigned as deputy chief technology officer for mission assurance at the Defense Information Systems Agency. His prior role was as DISA’s director of field security operations.

Jill Eileen Stiglich has been tapped to serve as deputy director of program acquisition and strategic sourcing at the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics. Her most recent role was in the same office as supervisory contract specialist.

DOD also formally announced the appointment of Arati Prabhakar as the new director of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, which was first reported in July.
