Federal 100: Scott Renda
Office of Management and Budget
The work: Pioneering three key programs that are transforming federal IT: the Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative, the cloud-first initiative, and the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.
The impact: Thanks to Renda’s leadership, 81 data centers have already been closed, and agencies have moved 40 services to the cloud, resulting in the elimination of more than 50 legacy systems.
The nuts and bolts: Renda also led the launch of FedRAMP, a monumental first step in addressing security in cloud computing environments. It provides a governmentwide approach to assessing, authorizing and monitoring cloud services.
