Rising Star: Mark Lee

Mark Lee
General Services Administration

Mark Lee, a manager of the General Services Administration’s Multiple Award Schedules Modification Transformation Project, often works late nights to get his job done.

He’s figuring out how to make MAS products and services available to agencies more quickly and at competitive prices, while improving the overall procurement process. The project aims to better track contract modifications and speed the award of modifications to add products.

To do that, Lee met with contracting officers, agencies and industry for a complete view of the situation and
led an extensive study on contracting vehicles. As a result, his work will largely reinvent contract administration tracking and processing for the MAS program, said Steve Kempf, GSA’s assistant commissioner for acquisition management.

Lee’s long hours are a product of balancing the rigors of a large-scale project and GSA’s Advanced Leadership Development Program, which is part of the agency’s efforts to ensure that it has a cadre of well-prepared employees.
