Federal 100 winner: Capt. Roy S. Petty

Capt. Roy S. Petty

Commanding officer

Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command

Petty was the driving force behind an effort to strengthen the defenses of Navy networks and coordinate similar efforts across the Global Information Grid.

The Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command became the first Computer Network Defense Service Provider in the Defense Department to receive a Level 3 accreditation through that program. The accreditation, awarded by the Strategic Command, was based on a review of 124 metrics.

“Capt. Perry leads from the front and maintains a vision for his command that far exceeds the daily expectation of a commanding officer,” said Robert Carey, the Navy Department’s chief information officer.
