Anne A. Armstrong is president and group publisher for 1105 Government Information Group, a division of 1105 Media Inc., a Chatsworth, Calif.-based integrated media company. 1105 Government Information Group publishes Federal Computer Week, Government Computer News, Washington Technology, Defense Systems and Government Health IT, and it provides timely information through their respective Web sites, in addition to the FOSE trade show and vertical conferences for the government information technology marketplace.

Armstrong was named publisher of FCW in 2002. Under her leadership, FCW has been selected for Advertising Age's Top 100 Media Brands and BtoB Magazine's Media Power 50, also ranking No. 20 on its list of top trade publications. She was recently selected as a top innovator in business publishing by Media Business.

Armstrong was president of Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology from September 1999 until August 2002. CIT is a nonprofit corporation that was created in 1984 by the Virginia General Assembly to spur the growth of technology and technology businesses in the commonwealth. With nine regional offices, CIT offers assistance to businesses in critical areas, promotes partnerships and research collaborations with Virginia's universities, and participates in initiatives to build a strong technical workforce.

Before her CIT appointment, she was editor in chief of FCW. A member of the launch team for FCW in 1987, she became editor in chief in 1992. Under her editorship, FCW's publications won more than three dozen awards for news and design, including Best Trade Newspaper (1996) from the Computer Press Association; Best Government publication (1995 and 1999) from Folio: Magazine; and Magazine of the Year (1998) and other awards from the American Society of Business Press Editors. In 2001, she was named one of FCW's Federal 100, an award program she founded during her tenure at the magazine.

Armstrong has specialized in IT journalism and has been active in the field for more than 25 years. She founded and was president of Langley Publications, a research publishing company, and she edited the newsletter CD Data Report. In the course of her career, she has been part of the management team of four startup entrepreneurial efforts. In addition to running a freelance business that provided information to corporate clients, she was Washington, D.C., editor of publications such as Digital Design and Abacus, a journal for computer professionals. She also edited the primary publication of the American Society for Information Science. Early in her career, she worked at Vanderbilt and Johns Hopkins universities as a science writer and at the University of Virginia in the department of information services.

She is chairwoman of the Advisory Board of Governors for the Tower Club. She has a bachelor's degree in English from Vanderbilt University and a master's in the history of ideas from Johns Hopkins University.

Chris Dorobek is editor in chief of Federal Computer Week, the leading news magazine for government information technology decision-makers. As editor in chief, Dorobek is a member of the senior leadership team at FCW Media Group, providing editorial direction and management for FCW magazine, FCW.com, Government Health IT and its other editorial products.

Dorobek joined FCW in 2001 as a senior reporter and assumed increasing responsibilities, becoming managing editor and executive editor before being named editor in chief in 2006.

Prior to joining FCW, Dorobek was a technology reporter at PlanetGov.com, an online community center for current and former government employees. He also spent five years at Government Computer News covering a variety of federal IT-related issues. 

He began his career as a reporter at the Foster's Daily Democrat, a daily newspaper in Dover, N.H. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California.

Staffan Sandberg is Director of Digital Media for the 1105 Media-Government Information Group. In this role, Staffan leads our digital media team and is responsible for product management, delivery, marketing/positioning, traffic development and new business partnerships.   

Staffan is an Emmy Award- and National Education Association Award-winning TV producer and interactive service creator. He has 20 years’ experience in the digital media industry, with 10 years of television, Internet and wireless experience from CNN and CNN Interactive. In addition, Staffan has a decade of executive-level leadership experience. He was chief executive officer and board member of several digital media startups; venture manager at Carlstedt Research and Technology, a high-tech digital media investment portfolio; and executive director at Brewhouse Innovation, a digital media business incubator, all located in Sweden.

Staffan is a frequent speaker and moderator at digital media industry events including the Vehicular Telematics conference at Comdex Nordic. He graduated from Boston University College of Communications with a bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and film.

John Monroe is editor in chief, Digital Media, of Federal Computer Week, where he is responsible for developing multimedia projects and other unique online content. He has covered the government information technology market for more than a decade. He was editor, then editor in chief of the magazine, before moving full time into online operations. Monroe also was editor of FCW Media Group's Civic.com, a monthly magazine covering the state and local government IT market.

As a reporter at FCW, Monroe covered nearly every sector of the federal IT community. He followed the Federal Aviation Administration's multibillion-dollar initiative to modernize the nation's air traffic control system. He also helped track the Defense Department's early efforts to bring technology to the battlefield. As FCW's technology editor, Monroe directed coverage of the federal IT industry and emerging technology trends.

During his tenure as editor, the publication earned numerous journalism honors, including 2004 gold and silver awards for best government coverage from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE). Since 2000, FCW has earned nine national and 13 regional awards ASBPE. The magazine also won a Maggie award for best news story/trade in 2004.

Monroe is a frequent speaker and moderator at conferences in the federal market. He also has been an e-government guest on National Public Radio's show hosted by Kojo Nnamdi and has discussed homeland security and privacy on CNN's Next@CNN.

Florence Olsen is an experienced journalist who has covered information systems technology and policy for more than 15 years. Stephanie Kanowitz has worked as an editor for seven years. Before joining the staff of Federal Computer Week in 2002, she was a copy editor at The Gainesville (Fla.) Sun and associate editor of a subsidiary of The Miami Herald. She started at FCW as a copy editor and quickly moved up to senior copy editor and then Web editor. John Zyskowski has worked as a journalist covering the information technology market for more than 15 years. Michelle S. Haase has been testing products and writing product reviews for Federal Computer Week for eight years. She has been writing the Pipeline column for more than year. Before joining FCW, she spent two and a half years as an on-site contractor at the Justice Department Executive Office for Immigration Review, helping transition the agency from a mainframe computer system to a local-area network. After the transition, she taught PC training classes, wrote software documentation and staffed the network help desk.
