Toshiba America Information Systems Inc.'s 150 MHz Pentium laptops are headed for federal contracts.
The Tecra 730 CDT is now available through AmeriData Federal Systems' notebook blanket purchase agreement with the Navy. The Tecra's price for 16M of RAM a 6X CD-ROM drive and a 12.1-inch TFT display among other features is $5 807. The 150 MHz machines also are expected to land on the Navy's New Technology for Office and Portable Systems contract through BTG Inc.
Compaq cuts server prices
Compaq Computer Corp. has cut its GSA schedule prices for ProSignia 300 servers by up to 11 percent. The GSA price for the ProSignia 300 5/150 Model 1 has been reduced from $2 073 to $1 855. The ProSignia 300 5/150 Model 2100 price has been cut from $2 879 to $2 661. All ProSignia 300 models come standard with 16M of Error-Correcting Code memory which is expandable to 208M and 256K of cache memory.
Biscom opens federal officeBiscom Inc. a vendor of enterprise fax management products opened a McLean Va. office this month to focus more attention on the federal market.
Biscom counts the National Institutes of Health the Department of Health and Human Services the Food and Drug Administration and the Defense Department among its users. Ten to 20 percent of the company's business is already with the government.
Among the opportunities Biscom plans to pursue is the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts' Data Communications Network hardware and software contract which asks specifically for fax servers said Darlene Robinson Biscom's director of federal sales. Biscom holds its own General Services Administration schedule.
