Wyoming signs GIS deal for trasnportation

Wyoming's Department of Transportation signed a deal with geographic information system vendor Environmental Research Systems Institute Inc. to generate an enterprisewide system for the agency.

ESRI's WYDOT contract will begin in the agency's utilities division but will serve as a launch point for a larger system to wrap in geospatial data and systems now spread over different state facilities.

During its work for WYDOT's Utilities Section, ESRI also will forge a Wyoming state base map. Completion of the first phase of the agreement is slated for November 1999.
