X.509: A widely used specification for digital certificates, X.509 binds

an entity's distinguished name to its public key.

DHCP: Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol allows a server to assign Internet

Protocol addresses to connected computers on the fly.

IPSec: Internet Protocol security is a set of security measures for verifying

the originating address in the header of packets sent over the Internet.

L2TP: Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol is a standard tunneling protocol for

virtual private networks. L2TP also supports non-IP protocols, including

AppleTalk and IPX.

3DES: Data Encryption Standard is a 56-bit private-key algorithm developed

by IBM Corp. in 1977 for encrypting data. With 3DES, the algorithm is applied

to the data three times in succession.
