Managing servers

This summer, Opsware Inc. officials will introduce a new version of the company's server management software, Opsware System 4.1, which will feature Opsware Satellite, a component for managing servers at remote locations.

The system's features include:

Bandwidth-throttling capabilities, which ensure that the system never exceeds the allotted network bandwidth.

Local software caching, which ensures that the latest versions of software are available.

Checkpoint restart, which automatically resumes interrupted downloads.

Automatic rerouting around failed links.

Certificate-based authentication to encrypt the communication channel and ensure that software and control messages are not tampered with in transit.
