The General Services Administration will host a two-day Networx Transition Summit in Reston, Va., at the end of January.
The event, the second of its kind, will allow leaders in government and industry to learn more of what they need to know to move their telecommunications services from the expiring FTS 2001 contract and onto the forthcoming Networx. GSA has scheduled the summit for Jan. 30 and 31.
According to a GSA announcement, topics that will be covered include:
- Operations Support Systems verification and testing.
- Federal Information Security Management Act compliance.
- Updating agency inventory to reflect current telecom assets.
- Selecting vendors.
The summit will also touch on fair opportunity, the credit process and other topics, according to GSA.
The Networx program includes two separate contracts. Networx Universal, which GSA expects to award in March 2007, will provide national and worldwide voice and data services, while Networx Enterprise, due to be awarded in May 2007, is for providers offering a more limited range of services to specific geographic areas.
