Setting the standard for information sharing. Mehra led a large, all-volunteer team to finalize the Unified Modeling Language Profile for the National Information Exchange Model, a key milestone in the quest for standards-based sharing and safeguarding of terrorism-related information. His outreach to defense, intelligence, law enforcement, homeland security and business experts ensured success in this vital national security area. He led the writing of a 200-page draft standard, motivating industry and government leaders through a sense of self-interest and benefit to the nation. The very first NIEM standard has paved the way for commercial products that will simplify the exchange of information.
