Maximizing open data's reach. As the lead for the Obama administration's open-data initiative, Sinai provided guidance for federal agencies on releasing data to the public and fulfilling the initiative's other directives. He was also the global link between the U.S. and other governments on open data, extending the reach of U.S. policies and incorporating best practices from abroad. Just as significantly, Sinai steered civilian agencies through the challenges of incorporating the open-data policy into their daily routines.
