Data is a natural byproduct of the business of government. However, federal agencies have been challenged as they try to gather, cleanse, standardize, mine and share that data. Now, however, new legislation (the Evidence Based Policymaking Act of 2019) and policy (OMB memo M-19-23) lay out the path agencies must follow to identify the data they plan to collect, use or acquire, as well as the methods and analytical approaches to facilitate the use of that data in measuring program performance.

Legacy systems are giving way to cloud storage and the use of emerging technology, producing both new complexities and new opportunities for data management and analytics. Learn from agency chief data officers how they are developing strategic data plans and putting into action the components of ethical data governance, annual evaluation appraisals and open data plans.

Topics to be addressed include:

  • How agencies will maximize data sharing
  • Establishing data governance parameters
  • Securing the data from attack or misuse
  • Data cleansing initiatives
  • Using AI to gain insights into improving performance
  • What NIST’s Bid Data Interoperability Framework means to agencies

Note: Due to the COVID-19 concerns and current restrictions on large public gatherings, this Workshop is being held as an exclusively online event.
