The impact: Trauberman provided a way for the Defense Department and eventually other government agencies to secure their mobile communications without costly custom development.

The nuts and bolts: Trauberman recognized the need for industry and government employees to be untethered from their desks yet able to share information securely. Using off-the-shelf technology, he and his team connected the dots in innovative ways to achieve breakthrough levels of risk reduction in mobile computing platforms, including tablet PCs and smart phones.
