GTSI unveiling customer Web site

The government reseller's new site will give government customers and vendors a central site for technology information and purchases

Government reseller GTSI will launch a new interactive customer World Wide Web site during the three-day FOSE conference that begins today in Washington, D.C.

The site will give government customers — as well as vendors — a central site for technology information and purchases.

The site will provide a secure location that can visitors can customize. Several subsites also will be available to provide information ranging from government contracts to a listing of the top vendor product sales. Vendors, such as Compaq Computer Corp., also have designed subsites that will link customers to the GTSI Web site and Compaq's Web site.

A GTSI representative will be notified via e-mail when customers have questions. Customers will be able to receive a response through instant messaging or a telephone call.

Because the site is interactive, a GTSI representative will be able to access the information on the customer's screen and perhaps make suggestions or "offer a better price," said Betty Greene, director of GTSI.com.
