Five split $600M Air Force deal

The Air Force has awarded a $600 mil-lion contract to five companies for desktop computers, laptops and servers. Blanket purchase agreements went to CDW-G Inc., Dell Marketing LP, Micron Government Computer Systems Inc., Gateway Inc. and GTSI Corp.

The contract essentially combines two previous BPAs to gain efficiency, according to Col. Neal Fox, director of the Air Force Standard Systems Group Commercial Information Technology-Product Area Directorate, the organization awarding the contract.

The BPAs will run for two years, with one additional option year.

Corbett wins $40M Army award

The Army Materiel Command awarded a $40.6 million contract to Corbett Technologies to provide information assurance services to the AMC chief information officer.

The blanket purchase agreement covers a one-year base period with four one-year options. Corbett, which provides information security services, received an initial $1.39 million to "analyze, evaluate, coordinate, plan and implement strategies, policies and tracking" for the AMC information assurance program.

USDA taps Amdahl package

The Agriculture Department's National Finance Center has selected a storage management software package from Amdahl Corp. to help it copy, move and store its immense amount of financial data. USDA said it would use Amdahl's Transparent Data Migration Facility package to manage the data flowing through the four IBM Corp. mainframe computers at the finance center's New Orleans location.

The price of the TDMF package ranges from $26,882 to almost $1 million, depending on a user's configuration.
