HUD holds up major RFP
Multitude of industry comments on the HUD Information Technology Service contract prompts postponement
The Department of Housing and Urban Development is delaying the release of a request for proposals for a major technology contract because it has received so many comments.
The project, known as HUD Information Technology Service (HITS), is expected to cost about $500 million over 10 years for a full range of integrated IT services nationwide.
The project would include data processing and management, data recovery, printing and distribution, local-area network communications and maintenance, and Web site administration, as well as the entire spectrum of IT support.
The HITS Web site said the RFP was delayed because of a large volume of industry comments, and a new date would be posted shortly on the Web site.
