Contract goes to Getronics Government Solutions for seat management, network support

The U.S. Mint has awarded a contract to Getronics Government Solutions LLC for operations support, including seat management and data and voice communications networks.

The performance-based contract is valued at up to $11.8 million for fiscal 2002, with four option years to follow. Getronics is partnering with Soza & Co. Ltd. and Prime Performance Technologies Inc. to provide the service.

The contract includes seat management for 2,100 seats, according to George Vaveris, Getronics' vice president of civilian operations for U.S. Treasury operations. Vaveris said the contract was awarded Aug. 26, but the company decided to wait to announce it just before work begins Oct. 1.

Under the contract, the companies will also provide infrastructure support for the Mint, including a help desk, desktop support and data-center services, as well as personal digital assitants, servers and distributed computing software.

"We welcome this 'fee based on performance' methodology because we have measured ourselves against this model for a long time," said Michael Sanders, Getronics' vice president and general manager of civilian operations.

Getronics provides secure desktop and network IT solutions to the federal government, including the Defense Department and many civilian agencies.
