Small biz in SEWP mix

NASA's Scientific and Engineering Workstation Procurement (SEWP III) is getting closer to offering its full slate of 400,000 line items with last week's announcement that the request for proposals for two small-business set-aside contracts will be released by the end of the month.

The contracting office at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center released a notice that the RFPs for Class 10 (computer support devices) and Class 12 (security system tools) will be released "on or about Sept. 30."

Like its two predecessors, SEWP III is a fixed-price, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract featuring high-end workstations, peripherals and more. The SEWP contracts have been among the most successful governmentwide acquisition contracts.

SEWP III, capped at $4 billion, is designed to give the space agency a source for the state-of-the-art computer systems it needs for scientific research and engineering projects.
