EDS to keep running Indiana Medicaid

Indiana has awarded a three-year, $83 million contract to EDS to continue processing health care claims and provide other Medicaid financial services.

The contract pays Dallas-based EDS to keep operating the state's Medicaid management information system, called IndianaAIM.

Developed and implemented by the company and the state Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning in 1995, the system processes more than 45 million claims from health care providers annually. It can incorporate policy changes while administering multiple health care plans.

The system processes claims in fewer than four days and issues weekly payments to more than 30,000 enrolled doctors, nurse practitioners, hospitals, nursing homes and other health care providers. The company provides all claims processing, enrollment, provider and member relations, managed care, financial and data center management, and technical support.

With the new contract, EDS will continue to expand the system's capabilities, improve service, expand access to health information and cut costs.

EDS also operates California's and Alabama's statewide Medicaid systems.
