Lockheed wins Air Force contract
The company will maintain software for the service's Theater Battle Management Core Systems.
On Feb. 27, the Air Force awarded a $5 million contract to Lockheed Martin Corp. for software maintenance services for the Theater Battle Management Core Systems (TBMCS).
The company's Mission Systems division will perform software fixes and patches, help-desk support, and reporting and training services. It will also conduct architecture planning for TBMCS, according to a Defense Department contract announcement.
TBMCS automates the Air Force's planning and execution of air fueling, bombing and attack missions. The Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass., completed contract negations with Lockheed Martin Mission Systems in January.
TBMCS is accessible via a military intranet, and Air Force officials want to make the entire command and control system accessible via a Web-like environment, called the Family of Interoperable Operational Pictures, later this year
