The Federal Aviation Administration awarded a new contract for information technology services through the Broad Information Technology Services (BITS) II procurement vehicle.
Under the BITS II task order, Optimus Corp. will provide IT services for various FAA organizations located at the Air Traffic Control Systems Command Center in Herndon, Va. This center works toward efficiently moving air traffic, which includes working with airlines to reduce potential delays.
Optimus will provide services for local- and wide-area network administration and future systems integration, as well as administrative and financial analysis support.
The BITS II contract is a multiyear deal designed to foster opportunities for small and small disadvantaged IT companies, while incorporating a performance-based contracting environment. The contract, which is capped at $800 million, will run for a maximum of eight years from its launch in June 2003.
Optimus previously received a task order under the BITS II contract last July, when the company was selected to develop a system to prevent runway collisions.
