GSA solicits e-buying ideas

Officials seek input on online purchasing as part of the Integrated Acquisition Environment effort.

The General Services Administration is seeking input on how online purchasing should work as part of the Integrated Acquisition Environment effort. The agency recently published a request for information, with a deadline of June 25.

The Integrated Acquisition Environment is an e-government initiative intended to develop a secure business environment for government e-commerce. One goal is to eliminate agency-specific systems in favor of a governmentwide approach.

The online purchasing capability will automate finding information, selecting the desired products and services, and generating historical purchase data. It should use commercial standards, provide an experience similar to using commercial e-commerce services and have an efficient architecture design, among other specifications.
