FCW Insider: Procurement reform on the backburner

Procurement, reform, Congress, Coalition for Government Procurement

Congress will not make procurement reform a high priority in 2009, according to the Friday Flash newsletter from the Coalition for Government Procurement.

According to the newsletter, a team of Coalition staff and members met with Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), who sits on the House Committee of Oversight and Government Reform to discuss the next Congress. But Hollen told the delegation that the economy and health care likely will dominate the agenda.

"While contracting reforms will likely rear its head in new legislation, they are not expected to gain much traction outside of an authorization act," according to the coalition.
