Reverse auction house names new senior officer
FedBid names new officer to leads its efforts in its expanding marketplace.
Bobby Feigler is the new chief marketplace officer at the FedBid, the reverse auction host company said July 17.
Feigler will lead account and business development operations, as a member of the company’s senior executive team.
“Bobby is a successful e-procurement pioneer and a proven industry executive who has already brought great value to FedBid, its sellers and customers,” Ali Saadat, CEO of FedBid, said.
Feigler said FedBid will focus on bringing the reverse auction to new customers in the public and private sectors.
“What excites me most is that FedBid is about more than the bottom line—it’s about creating value with a meaningful impact for both buyers and sellers,” he said.
A reverse auctions is a competition tool in which companies bid lower prices to win contracts for commodities and simple services. The auctions have caused some controversy in government procurement circles, although members of Congress and the Obama administration have blessed the approach to purchasing.
Prior to his new position, Feigler directed FedBid’s market operations division. In his 20-year career he has headed up commercial and business development organizations for global multinational corporations, international development, and early stage companies.
He began his career in the Army, where he served as an infantry officer. He then moved into operations and commercial roles with Baxter Healthcare, where he identified the need for a better way to procure laboratory supplies. Feigler also became a principle founder of SciQuest.
