DOD falters on cyber-purchasing plan

A program intended to speed up the acquisition of technology is falling behind schedule, according to reports.

The Defense Department is faltering on the schedule for a plan to buy critical technology products more quickly, reports Defense News.

"The delay is due to concerns that the strategy’s bureaucracy would only slow the purchasing process," wrote reporter Zachary Fryer-Biggs, citing unnamed sources.

The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2011 mandated the plan, with an original deadline of mid-2011.
