GSA awards IT commodities purchase agreement
BPA goes to 43 small businesses, provides tablet PCs, mobile products and other IT equipment.
The General Services Administration has awarded new blanket purchase agreements for IT commodities to 43 small businesses.
The BPAs, hosted by GSA’s National IT Commodity Program, offer tablet PCs, mobile products, monitors, videoconference equipment, laptops, desktops, notebooks, netbooks and data center equipment.
“The primary goal of GSA’s National IT Commodity Program is to lower the prices and the cost of acquisition for the most commonly purchased IT products, saving taxpayer dollars and allowing federal, state and local agencies a fast and easy purchasing option,” said Mary Davie, acting commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service.
GSA sells approximately $1.7 billion worth of IT products annually.
The contracts give buyers automatic tiered volume discounts, additional customer-negotiated discounts, vendor on-the-spot or point-of-sale discounts, and significant savings off GSA’s Multiple Award Schedules.
To accommodate the fast-changing IT world, GSA also set up an easy way for vendors to update their product offerings.
The 43 small-business awardees include disadvantaged, woman-owned, veteran-owned and service-disabled veteran-owned companies.
