NASA to extend SEWP IV by 6 months

Extension intended to provide smooth transition to SEWP V.

SEWP V

NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center posted a pre-solicitation notice to FedBizOps on March 14, announcing that the agency would continue to allow purchases via the current Solutions for Enterprise Wide Procurement program through Oct. 31.

The effective ordering period for that government-wide acquisition contract, known as SEWP IV, had been scheduled end April 30, and give way to the next-generation SEWP program. The extension is intended to provide adequate transition time for SEWP V contracts, and "ensure uninterrupted support to meet critical requirements until the follow-on competitive contracts are awarded."

Some 50 companies participate in the SEWP IV iteration of the contract, which originally began in 1993. Proposals for SEWP V were due Nov. 15, 2013. At that time, SEWP Program Manager Joanne Woytek told FCW that fiscal 2013 had been SEWP's busiest year in terms of both new orders and modifications of existing orders, with more than $2.5 billion for the year.
