GSA looks for help in category management
A Federal Acquisition Service RFI seeks help in both day-to-day implementation and changing the culture.
What: The General Services Administration wants small businesses to assist in implementing its developing category management strategy.
Why: The GSA's Federal Acquisition Service is looking for qualified small businesses with experience in category management practices and theory. GSA leadership has been pushing for federal agencies to buy IT and other goods more efficiently and knowledgably by creating categories of services accessible through online portals that provide extensive information on product categories.
In its request for information, FAS is seeking broad help in implementing category management practices -- from day-to-day implementation jobs to instilling category management ideals into its workforce longer-term.
According to the RFI, the category manager will be responsible for developing plans to improve coordination, streamline acquisitions and eliminate redundancies across federal IT portfolios.
Responses to the RFI are due April 24.
In a separate effort at the beginning of April, OMB listed an IT category manager on USAJobs, a position that will pay 121,956 to $168,700 per year and is responsible for developing plans to improve coordination, streamline acquisitions and eliminate redundancies across federal IT portfolios.
