EHSS looks for IT help

WHAT: An Energy Department sources-sought notice to find qualified small companies that can provide application, infrastructure and cybersecurity support services to its Office of Environment, Health, Safety and Security.

WHY: EHSS provides corporate leadership and strategic approaches for a sprawling range of agencies charged with protecting DOE workers, the public, the environment and national security assets.

EHSS oversees a variety of smaller agencies, including the Office of Nuclear Safety, which sets requirements and expectations to protect workers, the public and the environment from the hazards associated with nuclear operations, and the Office of Security, which sets policies, procedures and guidance for DOE-wide security in the areas of program management and support, physical security, protective forces, information protection, personnel security, nuclear materials control and accountability.

DOE is seeking a small-business contractor to provide EHSS with technical and administrative support for maintaining applications and infrastructure that support mission and programmatic requirements, including planning and implementation of digital government, IT planning and program architecture initiatives; ongoing mission-related information systems support; and security for mission-related information systems.

Ultimately, DOE officials plan to issue a $45 million, five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity, time-and-materials contract. It will cover operations and maintenance, including cyber vulnerability mitigation, system patching, troubleshooting and issue resolution, account administration, web postings, log analysis and backups.
