The Office of Management and Budget has appointed the following people to serve on the Government Information Technology Services Board: John Cavallini (Energy Department) Mary Ellen Condon (Justice Department) Patricia Edfors (Treasury Department) James Flyzik (Treasury Department) Gayle Gordon (Interior Department) Nada Harris (Department of Veterans Affairs) Jody Kusek (Interior Department) Alan Lorish (Office of Personnel Management) Bruce McConnell (OMB) Jack Radzikowski (OMB) Robert Reisner (U.S. Postal Service) Carolyn Shearin-Jones (Social Security Administration) Anthony Valletta (Defense Department) G. Martin Wagner (General Services Administration) Greg Woods (National Performance Review) and Robert Woods (General Services Administration).

The board which succeeds the Government Information Technology Services Working Group chaired by Flyzik was scheduled to hold its first meeting Friday.

Several information technology experts from the public and private sectors were appointed last week to the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics a 16-member group that advises Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala on various health data technology and policy issues.

Among the nine new members are: Simon P. Cohn clinical information systems coordinator for Kaiser Permanente Medical Care Program Oakland Calif. an expert in the development and installation of comprehensive health information systems Kathleen A. Frawley director of the American Health Information Management Association Washington D.C. and an expert in hospital information systems and John R. Lumpkin director of the Illinois Department of Health Springfield Ill. who also advises the National Academy of Sciences on public health information systems.

Clement J. MacDonald co-director of the Regenstrief Institute for Health Care Indianapolis and an expert in the electronic transfer of patient data between health care institutions was also appointed to the panel.Air Force Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Grime who has been serving as deputy commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command at the Canadian Forces Base North Bay Ontario has been named commander of the Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center North American Air Defense Command Cheyenne Mountain Colo.

Grime replaces Maj. Gen. Raymond Huot who has been assigned to be chief of the Office of Defense Cooperation to Turkey U.S. European Command Ankara Turkey.

    DHS chief Nielsen resigns

    Kirstjen Nielsen, the first Homeland Security secretary with a background in cybersecurity, is being replaced on an acting basis by the Customs and Border Protection chief. Her last day is April 10.
