Va. County Agencies Share Info With New Network

Chesterfield Co., Va., recently purchased a system to enable county agencies to share information across platforms, including a central mainframe and distributed PC networks. Encore Computer Corporation's Infinity SP Universal Storage system, at a cost of $500,000, will replace an existing IBM 3380/3390 DASD.

NLC Starts Seminars on Year 2000

Next week, the National League of Cities (NLC) will begin a series of educational and training seminars on Year 2000 issues. The first round of seminars will be held June 5-6 in Miami; July 17-18 in Chicago; July 20-21 in Houston; August 7-8 in Las Vegas and August 10-11 in Seattle. The seminars were developed in conjunction with Public Technologies, Inc. (PTI), a non-profit organization dedicated to state and local IT users.
