V-Squared opens configuration center

V- Squared recently opened a PC configuration center in Dulles Va. The company now has the capacity to build 1 500 PCs a day during three shifts. The company manufactures its own line of PCs servers Redundant Array of Independent Disks subsystems and CD-ROM towers. V-Squared is a subsidiary of Decision Support Systems Inc. a Reston Va. distributor.

The facility also is open to taking on contract manufacturing work said Shaf Mohebbi president of V-Squared. In contract manufacturing a PC vendor hires an outside firm to assemble its products. Vendors such as Compaq Computer Corp. have started to tap channel partners to configure systems. V-Squared's new center also is able to perform system upgrades for customers said Tom Mattingly director of marketing for V-Squared.
