Col. Dean Ertwine this month took on the new position of deputy for systems acquisition at the Army's Communications-Electronics Command. In the newly created job Ertwine will manage the development acquisition testing and fielding of major systems and programs assigned to the command. Ertwine previously served as the executive officer to the assistant secretary of the Army for research development and acquisition and he has been nominated for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.

John Kost a senior vice president with Federal Sources Inc. last month accepted a position on the General Accounting Office's Executive Council on Information Management and Technology a group that brings together leaders from the public and private sectors to explore ways to use IT to achieve the goals of the federal government. Kost former CIO for the state of Michigan heads the State and Local Division of Federal Sources.

Robert Marx is now the assistant director for decennial and geographic policy at the Census Bureau heading a staff of 15 responsible for answering congressional queries regarding the 2000 census. Marx's previous job associate director for the decennial census has been taken over by John Thompson who will be responsible for implementing the 2000 census programs. Thompson previously was chief of the Decennial Management Division.

Christopher Jones has been appointed president of Pulsar Data Systems Inc.'s Technology Sciences Division. The newly formed division will provide turnkey communications engineering network technology and technology services to government and commercial customers.Jones was most recently the senior vice president and chief operating officer with NetCom Solutions International Herndon Va.

Jeanette Nasem-Ports Morgan the former division manager for systems architecture and software development for NASA and Defense Department customers at Boeing Co. last week was appointed chief information officer and vice president for information technology at Government Technology Services Inc. The company also announced last week Timothy Collins' appointment to the position of director of vendor relations with David Hoy serving as director of General Services Administration programs. Collins formerly served as director of government sales and marketing with NEC Technologies Inc. Hoy was previously vice president of operations and administration for TerraGlyph Interactive Studios Inc.
