Anderson tapped as Marine Corps CIO

The Marine Corps has named Maj. Gen. Joseph T. Anderson as its assistant chief of staff for command control communications computers and intelligence and chief information officer. Anderson formerly the vice commander of the Naval Air Systems Command replaces Maj. Gen. David Richwine who left in September to become vice president of operations at the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.

Army site hacked

The home page of the Army's Artificial Intelligence Center (www.pentagon-ai.army.mil) was altered this month by intruders who replaced the center's data with drawings of cartoon characters and anti-government text.

The page was altered Oct. 4 an Army spokesman confirmed but he could provide no further details of the incident. The main page featured a picture of the cartoons and a link to a second exploited page. The second page included pleas to free hacker Kevin Mitnick and a parody of the Defense Department's security banner warning.
