The Association for Information Resources Management last month announced its 1997-1998 Leadership Awards. A team of three employees from the Agriculture Department's Rural Housing Service were cited for their work on the agency's Dedicated Loan Origination/Servicing System (DLOS). Team members included Glendon Deal deputy director of the DLOS program support staff Tom Hannah director of the agency's single-family housing servicing and property management division and Joseph Perez the service's chief information officer.

Jacques S. Gansler was sworn in Nov. 10 as the seventh undersecretary of Defense for acquisition and technology. Before his appointment by President Clinton Gansler was executive vice president and director for TASC Inc. Arlington Va. He also previously held positions as deputy assistant secretary of Defense for materiel acquisition and assistant director of Defense research and engineering for electronics.

Scott Gould has been confirmed as chief financial officer and assistant secretary for administration at the Commerce Department. He also is designated as the department's chief information officer. Bob Welch formerly a procurement executive at the Treasury Department is now director of acquisition management and procurement executive at Commerce. He replaced Ken Buck who is now on assignment at the Council for Excellence in Government.

Last month Brian Carman former assistant director for infrastructure programs at the Treasury Department was named acting director of the department's new Office of Corporate Systems Management which formerly was the Office of Telecommunications Management.

Randall Crow has been named vice president of government sales at network security vendor Secure Computing Corp. He was most recently vice president of sales for the Americas and the Pacific Rim at Micronetics Corp. Peter Goldman previously federal region district manager with Schumann Security Software Inc. was appointed federal account manager for civilian agencies at Secure Computing. The company also hired Cathy Cromley former manager of federal marketing at 3Com Corp. as director of federal marketing.

James Ungerleider former vice president of American Management Systems Inc. last month was appointed president and chief executive officer of Infodata Systems Inc.

Phil Davis a 20-year employee of OAO Corp. last month was promoted to senior vice president of the company's Aerospace Systems Group. * * * Diamond Lane Communications Corp. last month named Earl Curtis sales manager for government markets. Curtis was previously an account manager for Timeplex Federal Systems.
