NLC Recognizes 'Electronic Community' in Fairfax, Va.

The National League of Cities has awarded the city of Fairfax, Va., an "Innovation Award" for its work to link residents, schools and businesses with local government. The city relied on a consultant and a technology committee to develop the application, which it calls "Electronic Community: Linking Citizens and Government."

NLC also recognized the city of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for its "Neighborhood Leadership College," which harnesses technology to promote civic participation and leadership by briefing residents twice a year on public information and training initiatives.
