New York education board seals training deal

New York City's Board of Education recently sealed a deal with Enterprise Training Solutions (www.enterprisetraining.com) for training products to teach city education administrators and faculty how to use the full spectrum of Microsoft Corp. Office desktop software products.

Up to 70,000 users from New York City public schools and administrative offices will be covered under the agreement. Loaded on 800 new computers slated for delivery to principals at all city elementary and middle schools, the training software provides for pre- and post-assessment evaluation of new skill sets.

"New York City initially started out looking for training solutions for their headquarters, but they quickly saw a tremendously cost-effective opportunity to go further and wider with the initiative than they originally intended," said Ken Gellerman, Enterprise Training's vice president of business development. Gellerman said his company and other computer-based training vendors are ramping up pursuit of the education market but often struggle to nail down deals, because the market is so fragmented.
