Rhode Island New Home to Microsoft Training Center

Warwick, R.I., will be the next home of a Microsoft Corp. Certified Technical Education Center (CTEC), with classes beginning this summer, city officials said this week.

Data General Corp.'s open system training unit will operate the center, which will offer classes and training for Windows NT, Windows 2000 and BackOffice product suites. Classes will be offered for individual and corporate groups.

"Several technical companies have chosen to operate in Warwick because of our business-friendly government and solid financial environment," Mayor Lincoln Chafee said. "Our easy access to [Interstate] 95, T.F. Green Airport and a future train station make Warwick a very attractive business location."

Data General is a supplier of enterprise computing solutions in Westboro, Mass. It already operates Microsoft CTECs in Westboro and Duluth, Ga.
